Introduction
Besan laddu is a favorite sweet in India, very fondly consumed by everyone during the Diwali festival. This recipe includes very few ingredients, yet the taste and the texture of the laddu is awesome. These laddus just melt in your mouth. Due to desi ghee and gram flour, they are rich in protein and increase strength when consumed in moderation. You may replace powdered sugar with grated jaggery if you want to make them even healthier. Just follow along all the steps in this recipe and you will end up making perfect besan laddu that everyone would love.
What You Need
- Gram flour (besan) - 4 cups
- Powdered sugar - 2 cups
- Desi ghee - 1.5 cups
- Lukewarm milk - ¾ cup
- Nutmeg (grated) - Half
- Raisins
How to Make It

Sieve the gram flour.

In a pan, heat the ghee.

Once the ghee is hot, add the gram flour and roast on low heat.

The gram flour should be well-coated with ghee. If not, then add a little more of ghee.

When the gram flour changes color (slightly pinkish) and becomes semi-liquid, turn off the heat.

Add lukewarm milk to the mixture and stir well.

Turn the heat back on and roast on low heat for 5 more minutes. Then turn off the burner and let it cool down for a while.

Once the mixture becomes warm, add powdered sugar and grated nutmeg and knead well.

Shape the mixture into laddus with your hands, adding raisins on top.

This quantity makes approximately 28-30 laddus.
Pro Tips
Always use freshly ground gram flour for an awesome taste.
Consume these laddus in moderation, as they contain sugar.
